About

About Scott Zack

Michigan investor and entrepreneur, owner of Creek Equity in Bloomfield Hills, and former Ohio State basketball forward.

Today

Scott Zack is a Michigan investor and entrepreneur and the owner of Creek Equity, a private investment company he formed in 2017 in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Creek Equity founds, funds, and acquires businesses with its own capital rather than a fund's, so it has no deadline to sell. It focuses on founder-led and family-owned Michigan companies, looks for essential-service businesses with durable, recurring revenue, and holds the businesses it builds and buys for the long term.

Owners and advisers who think a company fits can write to him at [email protected]. He takes the first conversation himself.

Building companies

Over more than two decades, Scott Zack has started, bought, and run companies in Michigan. Through Creek Equity he has built and backed healthcare services businesses, including Avenix Medical Group, a healthcare supply chain partner for hospitals, health systems, physician groups, and post-acute care, and Total Routing Solutions, a medical courier for clinical laboratories and other healthcare companies.

Creek Equity published its Investment Principles in October 2026: what it looks for, how it decides, and how it behaves as an owner. Its focus is established Michigan companies with $1 million to $10 million of EBITDA, along with earlier-stage ventures where the customer need is proven and the founder is exceptional.

Ohio State

Before his business career, Scott Zack played forward for the Ohio State men's basketball team. He was a sophomore in the 1994-95 season, wore number 34, and played under head coach Randy Ayers in the Big Ten. Sports Reference lists him as an Ohio State forward who appeared in 11 games that season, on a team that finished 6-22.

He has said that hard season taught him more than an easy one would have: preparation beats talent on any given day, accountability has to be personal before it can be shared, and the right people in the right roles matter more than having the best individual players. More at scottzack.org.
